Theatre News: Clybourne Park Wins Awards; plus Sheridan Smith and Simon Russell Beale

Firstly, congratulations to Clybourne Park, which transfers to Wyndham’s Theatre tomorrow.
The play has won another award for its earlier run at the Royal Court. As well as being named Best New Play at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards and the Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards, it’s also bagged the South Bank Sky Arts Theatre Award. Get booking now if you want to see this fantastic show!

And yes, news about two of my favourite stars this week. Aren't you lucky?!

Now I know what Sheridan Smith is up to next (besides heading to Dubai after her last night in Legally Blonde...). I saw her earlier in the month, just before she finished playing Elle Woods, and fingers crossed I'll see her again in Flare Path at the Theatre Royal Haymarket...

And how brilliant does Simon Russell Beale's new project sound? Playing Stalin (is he a bit too short?) in a play by the guy who wrote Shallow Grave (what a film), which was sent to the National Theatre on spec. On. Spec!

And happily, this show, which is on for ages (til Jan 2012) won a cool award for being innovative last week.
